Dr. Faccioli is the Director of the Organ Processing Hub and leads the Genetic Engineering and iPSC Platform at the Division of Experimental Pathology. She is expert in the isolation of primary human cells and tissues from explanted diseased organs, including liver, lung, kidney, and heart. Her work supports a wide range of translational research efforts aimed at understanding end stage human disease.
As the manager of the Human Liver Tissue & Hepatocytes Research Resource (HLTHRR), Dr. Faccioli provides access to high-quality, well-characterized non-parenchymal subpopulations, isolated from normal donor livers, which are distributed to investigators nationwide.
Dr. Faccioli’s research focuses on patient-specific liver disease modeling, using human cells to reconstruct the complex liver microenvironment in vitro. Her work aims to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving chronic liver diseases. By developing physiologically relevant models, she enables the screening of potential therapeutics and supports the advancement of personalized treatment strategies.
