Dr. David Gau has published a new research article in The Journal of Biological Chemistry, now available online: https://www.jbc.org/article/S0021-9258(25)02885-6/fulltext. The study describes a novel therapeutic strategy targeting Profilin-1 in cancer. The authors demonstrate that Profilin-1, a ubiquitously expressed protein that is upregulated in renal carcinoma, can be therapeutically targeted using a small-molecule inhibitor.

In addition, the work introduces lipid microbubbles as a theranostic delivery platform capable of selectively transporting and releasing the inhibitor at tumor sites. This targeted delivery approach was shown to reduce tumor growth, highlighting the potential of combining targeted therapeutics with advanced delivery technologies.

Together, these findings provide insight into new strategies for cancer treatment that integrate targeted inhibition with innovative delivery systems.
