Dr. Sungjin Ko, DVM, PhD, along with Dr. Minwook Kim, PhD, has published a new paper titled “SALL4 is Required for YAP1-Dependent Malignant and Regenerative Hepatocyte-to-Cholangiocyte Reprogramming.”
This study uncovers a critical role for SALL4 in YAP1-driven liver cell reprogramming—both in tumor development and during regeneration after injury. Using advanced experimental models, the team demonstrated that turning SALL4 on or off can either promote or block malignant transformation, opening the door to new therapeutic strategies for cholangiocarcinoma.
